Kiddd on the new big waves at Hedon

Hedonism Isle is the newest BIG wave beach around and we are looking at running a future surf contest here (sometime in May). Owned by Phelan James and managed by Flynn Sheridan, this sim is almost entirely OCEAN, so the ride is longer. The benefit for everyone is that all the spectators for the contest can sit on the neighbouring sim, have a great view, and not cause any lag for the surfers! Woot!

Come by around 5 pm SLT (PST) this Thursday… surf, hang, relax, whatever. There are FREE Hedonism Isle surfboards here for you to pick up. Let us know what you think of the new beach!

The entire SL grid shut down for emergency maintenance just a couple hours before the contest, but luckily it all came back up in time. We packed Chi to the brim! In fact, Poid had to increase the limit on the number of people allowed in the sim so that we could get one of our judges onto …

The stage and such…

The competition is heating up!! Several competitors were down at Chi doing some late evening surfing, practicing for the comp, of course. It’s so exciting to see other people excited about the comp. Indeed, I spent the large part of the evening at Chi building out the stage area and grandstands… working on the competitors scoring… but that’s not what you’re here for. You want to know which heat you’re in.

One of the original goals of the Namiko Surf Co. was to support the organization and management of a series of elite and dynamic competitive and non-competitive surf events within Second Life. So, we are starting now… with the first ever SL surf competition.

Endless Surf

CHI — The massive sculpture of the Buddha dwarfs Kiyotei Xi as he sits not so quietly meditating on his Greg Noll “da Cat” surfboard on the tropical Second Life island of Chi. “Awesome ride, Valent1ne,” he shouts. “Do it again!”

Kiyotei is dressed in a Zen monk’s robes and has horns and a halo surrounding his head. He offers me a test version of “da Cat” and says “Go for it, broh.”

Greg Noll was actually known as “da Bull” back in the days when he fi rst tamed the wild 40-foot plus surf at Waimea Bay on Oahu’s famous North Shore …

We just released the brand spanking new wetsuits (both fullsuits and spring suits) plus a ton of new bikinis and boardshorts yesterday at the fashion show. All the new items are available RIGHT NOW at the Laguna Beach Club location.

We came, we saw, we modeled. The fashion show at Laguna Beach Club yesterday saw an incredible turnout and it was exciting to see so many people out! We filled the sim! Here are some of the shots Surferjoe Wind took for us at the event:

Hot sun. White sand beach. Monsters waves.

Narrowly escaping the rolling blackouts across the grid, we were a lucky bunch of surfers hanging at Chi (122, 205, 22) late yesterday afternoon. There was a great turnout of SL surfers from all over the grid, many of whom had never been to Chi before… tons of honeys and hotties on the beach… and many of the team riders out on the waves, hooting and hollering the whole time.

The event was scheduled for 5 pm SLT, but we had so many people start arriving at the beach as early as 3 pm! Cracking jokes on the beach and tandem surfing… (Suzy, that peanut butter joke has legs, I’ll say). We were lucky enough to have some photos of the event from SL photographer, Joeru Pugilist.
